The Generosity Prayer of St. Ignatius of Loyola in 8×10.
Lord, teach me to be generous,
to serve you as you deserve,
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and not to look for any reward,
save that of knowing that I do your holy will. Amen.
Note: This prayer is often attributed to St. Ignatius of Loyola, but its earliest known publication is in a French newspaper in 1910. So, it’s unlikely that it was actually composed by St. Ignatius who lived in the sixteenth century. But it’s still an excellent prayer.
I’ve included versions with and without the association with St. Ignatius.
Makes a great set with A Student’s Prayer by St. Thomas Aquinas.
