St. Mary Magdalene Egg Set
To decorate wood eggs & cups
Apply the decorative tattoos to the wooden eggs. Cut the individual designs from the page. Remove the plastic protective covering from a cut design. Place it face down in the desired location on the egg or cup. Wet the paper backing completely with a spray bottle or wet rag. Let the water soak in until the paper backing easily slides off, leaving the tattoo on the egg or cup. Smooth the edges with a wet finger if necessary.
Suggested placement: Place the round designs on the eggs. Place the texts on the top edges of the egg cup, Greek on one, English on the other. Place the paisley design below the text on each cup. Place the Catholic All Year logo on the foot of each egg cup.
To dye wood eggs (if desired)
If you’d like to dye your wood eggs a russet-brown color, place the decorated wood eggs into a jar with a curved upper edge (about 2 cups is a good size). Pour the dye over the eggs, add water if necessary to cover the eggs. The curved upper edge of the jar will keep them submerged in the dye.
Leave them in the dye until the desired color is reached, at least an hour up to overnight. Remove eggs from the dye and place them on a piece of foil or wax paper until completely dry (this will take a few hours). Once dry, place them in the egg cups for display.
To have an egg tapping battle with your hard-boiled eggs
Each participant chooses an egg and a partner with whom to face off. Tappers hold the egg in the center and, on the count of three, tap one end of their eggs together. Unbroken egg is the winner. Participants continue to battle until one person is left with (at least) one unbroken end. That person is the winner and gets bragging rights and the button!
EGG TAPPING BADGE
Use your red eggs for a fun game: two players hold a hard boiled egg and tap an end against the other. Last end standing wins! Winner gets a fun badge and bragging rights.
