This 1.75 x 3.25 inch wooden Retablo by New Mexico artist Lynn Garlick features an early twentieth-century style Guardian Angel print on the front and the Guardian Angel prayer on the back.
Retablo or “board behind the altar” is a feature of eighteenth-century mission churches in the American southwest. Original art is created on traditional pine boards, carving and then painting them with watercolor. For these pocket versions, prints of the original are mounted on 1/8 inch baltic birch.
