Apostles Keychain

APOSTLES KEYCHAIN

An everyday reminder that we are called to team up with this unlikely pair by helping to spread the Gospel on earth– in spite of our shortcomings!

BLESSED MEDAL

Fun fact: buying or selling of spiritual things (relics, blessed objects)  is not allowed!

The fancy word for this is ‘simony’ and is forbidden in CCC 2121.

So this medal is truly our free gift to you, donated by Discount Catholic Products and blessed by Pope Francis at an audience on May 1, 2022. Pray with it on this feast day for a plenary indulgence, then add it to your keychain or a necklace & remember to pray for the pope!

The following is excerpted from The Catholic All Year Prayer Companion:

Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, Intercede for Us

A partial indulgence is available for this prayer at any time.

Guard your people, who rely on the patronage of your apostles Peter and Paul, O Lord, and keep them under your continual protection. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Using Blessed Objects

When we ask God’s blessing on an object, we are dedicating that item to God and reserving it for holy use. A priest’s blessing on an object goes further and makes it a sacramental. Sacramentals are sacred signs—things we can see—which bear a resemblance to the sacraments. The use of sacramentals helps prepare us to better receive the graces available in the sacraments, and unites our prayers and devotions with the prayers and devotions of the whole Catholic Church.

Indulgence for the Feast

A plenary indulgence, subject to the usual conditions, is granted to the faithful who, on the Solemnity of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, make prayerful use of an article of devotion (a properly blessed crucifix or cross, rosary, scapular, or medal) that has been blessed by the Supreme Pontiff or by any bishop, provided the faithful also make a Profession of Faith using any legitimate formula. See the Nicene Creed on page 46, or the Apostles’ Creed on page 366.

A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful who devoutly use such articles of devotion properly blessed by either a priest or a deacon.
