Season One Recap of My Show: Will there be more? Up to YOU.

by | Feb 4, 2020 | Catholic All Year Compendium, Catholic Living | 15 comments

The Catholic All Year Liturgical Living Show wrapped season one with a December episode on our At Home Nativity Play that I never managed to share here on the blog, because . . . baby > blog 😆🤷‍♀️.

So, I figured I’d share it here, a little late. Because the best thing about the end of Christmas is that it will be back again next year, right?! And hey, while we’re at it, I’ll share all the videos in one place for easy reference later, and the appropriate booklets, AND the books I recommended from Ignatius Press for each month, because . . . without the support of a sponsor, my friend Elizabeth and I can’t make these videos happen!

It’s kind of a win win: You get the videos for free, PLUS the chance to get yourself some amazing Catholic books at 25% off of the list price. And because the folks at Ignatius are kind and understanding about things like babies decreasing one’s productivity for a bit, they’ve offered to reactivate ALL the discount codes, through the end of February 2020. They’ve also given me a brand new code for The Catholic All Year Compendium, if you don’t happen to have that, or want to pick up any as gifts. The code for the Compendium is CAYCP25. You can use multiple monthly codes on the same order. I’ve also discounted every monthly prayer book to 25% off on Amazon, and all the monthly booklet bundles on the blog.

If you’ll let me “get real” for a sec here: I promoted the Ignatius book codes before Barbara was born, and those videos paid for themselves with the proceeds from your purchases with the codes. But the videos after Barbara was born . . . not so much with the promoting. Oops.

So, if you like the videos and you’d like us to keep making them, here’s what you can do for me:

  1. Head to Ignatius.com and buy a recommended book or two for yourself or your kids or your grandkids or your godchildren. These are books we use and enjoy in our own home. If the video sponsorship breaks even for them, Ignatius is willing to continue it.
  2. Let me know what you’d like to see in future videos. More bringing to life liturgical living ideas from the Compendium? I really do want you guys to see that these things ARE doable, and DON’T have to be perfect. Or, Catholic living stuff like surviving Mass with babies and toddlers? sacraments? homeschooling? parenting? cooking? How can I help?

Okay, here are the videos and the book links.

One More Video for the 2019 Season: A Book Recap With a Slightly Overtired Baby

It has been a joy for me to share a peek into our family’s love for liturgical living and our Catholic faith with you, AND to watch baby Barbara go from a twinkle to a bump to a squish over the course of a year! So, please let me know if there’s else you’d like to see from the show in the future!

I have been wondering what the new baby would bring to my kids. Done!

    • Kendra

Thanks, Amanda! 🙂 And happy babying!

    • Abbey Mason

I personally like the videos. My husband just asked me about candlemas the other day and I was able to show him the video explaining about it. You do such a good job on them.

  2. Melissa Buttry

I love watching the liturgical living plans in action in a real live family. My book budget is gone till the end of February but will be looking at Ignatius for sure.
I have your book and love, love, love that it is ordered chronology…that is how my brain works
Thanks and blessings to you and yours

    • Kendra

Thank you! And mine too. 😀

  3. Sarah

Thanks for your hard work!! Tried the code with the set of Vision Saint biographies and the code wouldn’t work. Do I have to call to use the monthly codes?

    • Kendra

I’m sorry for your trouble! I just tried it and it worked for me. It’s 25% off the list price, rather than off any sale price, which is sometimes confusing. But it’s still the best non-bulk order deal they offer.

  4. Melanie

I love your videos. I’m partial to homeschooling ones, LOL, But I love the Catholic Living ones as well. . I will definitely head over to Ignatius press later today and do some shopping. We have a run of spring birthdays. And of course Easter baskets to fill before we know it.

  5. Sarah

I love all your videos but would especially love to see more about Catholic living with little ones and parenting (I write as my 11 week old rests in my arms). I’m newly Catholic as of last Easter and a first time mom, so you have been an amazing resource though your blog and videos–thank you for that! I hope you can continue making the videos. Checking out ignatius now

  6. Caroline Merrill

Just ordered 5 books with the codes! Perfect Easter basket books! Thanks Kendra!

  7. Skye Angioletti

I think some videos of getting to Mass with all the kids would be fun. I’m also REALLY interested in your parenting techniques and style. Not sure how that would work in terms of a video but those blog posts have been so helpful for me (always mean what you say & I’m going to have to get up if “No” isn’t working). LOVE YOUR BOOK. LOVE YOUR BLOG. PLEASE WRITE ANOTHER BOOK. I WILL READ ANYTHING YOU WRITE.

  8. Isabel

Thank you for all your videos! I love seeing the traditions in your compendium come alive in the videos. I also really liked the disposal of sacramentals video because I learned a lot and you explained it so well. Also, a video about Mass with babies and toddlers would be great. Thanks for all the inspiration!

  9. Alison Dennison

I really enjoy and value your written work, Instagram and blog but I haven’t the time or the patience to watch the videos. Also as a nearly 70 year old with lovely daughters, sons in law and grandchildren, who all live away, the family things aren’t really relevant, sadly. However, I do use the prayers and liturgical living prompts as best as I can…..and I’ve downloaded the whole year now. Thank you for what you do but I’m not concerned about the videos (vlogs?)

    • Kendra

Thanks, Alison! I do enjoy the writing too. 🙂

  10. Callie

Love the videos! I plan to re-watch them as our family grows to get ideas for activities for bigger kids (my kids are 3 and one-and-a-half).

I’d love to see more liturgical living videos. Also, cooking for a big family seems so intimidating to me right now. Maybe a video on that? And I LOVE going through your birthday party posts. Maybe you feel like you’ve kind of “been there, done that,” but maybe just one video on how you plan/execute a birthday party?

One of the reasons I keep returning to your blog is because you have so much experience as a parent, so (I imagine) you know what matters and you know what not to worry about. Maybe you could use the video format to offer advice or even just reflections on how you’ve grown as a parent.

I’m sure you’ll come up with even better ideas as you keep making videos. It’s exciting!!

Hi! I’m Kendra.

For twenty years now, I’ve been using food, prayer, and conversation based around the liturgical calendar to share the lives of the saints and the beautiful truths and traditions of our Catholic faith. My own ten children, our friends and neighbors, and people just like you have been on this journey with me.

If you’d like to learn more about what Catholics believe and why, and to be inspired by saints from every era all over the world, you’ve come to the right place. If you’re feeling overwhelmed with the prospect of how to teach your kids about the faith in a way that’s true, engaging, and lasts a lifetime, we can help!
